Highly sensitive detectors for non-contact level measurement
SENSseries LB 480 is particularly suitable for demanding measuring tasks in safety-related applications. The system is certified for use in SIL2 plants. Berthold Technologies is the first manufacturer of SIL certified radiometric level , level switch (min/max. Alarm) and density measurement systems. Even SIL3 can be achieved with the redundant installation of two LB 480 measurement systems.
Functional safety
The high reliability of the measurement is supported by important diagnostic functions, such as permanent monitoring of the detector function by crosschecking the cosmic background radiation and much more. This guarantees outstanding operational safety.
The cosmic radiation control also makes it possible to keep the required source activity very low. Only Berthold Technologies is able to use the LB 480 as a density or min/max level switch in SIL2 / 3 safety circuits, in addition to its use as a level field device.
X-ray Interference Protection XIP
With this function, weld tests can no longer distort the measured value. The measured value is frozen until the external radiation influence is over. A digital output signals the detection of interfering radiation. All our level measurements are equipped with XIP.Additional Information
Does your product contain natural radioactive radiation?
No problem! The Product Radiation Compensation (PRC) feature provides reliable, accurate level measurement through independent activity measurement and integral compensation for a reliable and precise level measurement.More info
Does the gas pressure in your vessel change?
In the case of radiometric measurement, this can falsify the measured value, unless you have gas density compensation from Berthold Technologies. With the feature GPC (Gas Property Compensation), a second measurement determines the current gas density in the tank and has a compensating effect on the connected level measurement. Thus, a level measurement is realized, which provides an unaltered measured
